On March 4th and 5th, CDPA is hosting the BATD Examiner, Donna Cusack as we do annually for our student exams in Scottish Highland, National dances and theory.
The student exams are open to all CDPA Scottish Students no matter if they compete or not, so what is medal testing?
BATD: BRITISH ASSOCIATION OF TEACHERS OF DANCING
MEDAL TESTS
The BATD is one of three subsidiary agencies that maintain credentials and teaching standards for Scottish Highland Dancing under the umbrella of the SOBHD. Medal testing provides the dancer with the opportunity to be evaluated on his or her progress against the technical standard rather than against fellow competitors. Unlike the results of competition, the examiner in a medal test gives a written assessment to the dancer and assigns a mark of Highly Commended, Commended, Pass Plus, Pass or Unsuccessful. These exams do require a FEE which includes a certificate and medal/trophy award from Scotland for those successful candidates. CDPA students usually test once per year.
